Project: Re-Imagine Toronto

Employee Engagement Strategy for City of Toronto

Re-Imagine Toronto

We collaborated with the City of Toronto to create a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing employee behavior. This plan is based on thorough research and industry best practices, and it focuses on addressing several factors that influence employee behavior, such as leadership, culture, and communication.

Project Objective and Scope

Creating a sustainable work culture is essential for businesses that want to reduce their environmental impact and promote social responsibility. In a hybrid work model, where employees work both in-office and remotely, creating a sustainable work culture can be challenging.

Engagement Strategies

Employee engagement strategies are essential for creating a positive and productive workplace. Engaged employees are more motivated, committed, and productive, leading to improved business outcomes. Effective employee engagement strategies involve creating a culture of trust, open communication, and collaboration, promoting employee development and well-being, and recognizing and rewarding employees for their contributions.

Sustainability Calendar

A calendar, color-coded according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals has been created by Second Nature Consultants to assist with sustainability in a hybrid work model. The City of Toronto's Live Green teams has the ability to promote calendar activities by utilizing social media platforms to encourage sustainable lifestyles among staff and residents. One way to achieve this is by sharing meat-free recipes for "Meatless Mondays" as an example of sustainable eating habits. They can recommend local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that offer fresh and sustainable produce and goods, thereby supporting the growth of the local economy.

Conclusion

As our project comes to a conclusion, we wish to highlight the importance of organizational culture and practices within the City of Toronto and employee engagement in a hybrid work model.

The City is committed to employee development and engagement through sustainable programs, but changing behavior is complex and requires effort from both management and employees.

We set out to make the City of Toronto a leader in its class and its employees to become ambassadors of change within communities and businesses. We hope to see our vision of a Toronto re-imagined for all who work, live and thrive in it.
